About the Staffordshire and Cheshire Korfball Association
Constitution Rules & Regulations Amended Rules
The Staffordshire and Cheshire Korfball Association (SaCKA) was formed in the summer of 2006 following the disbanding of the Central England Korfball Association. SaCKA was one of 5 associations that formed from the CEKA (along with Yorkshire, the North West, West Midlands and East Midlands) .
SaCKA has a responsibility to promote korfball in the Staffordshire, Cheshire and Shropshire region.
Korfball participation in the SaCKA region has slowly grown since 1996, but SaCKA is still the smallest area of the 12 national area associations in both population and active participation.
Five clubs exist or have existed within the SaCKA region since korfball was brought to the area in 1996:
Castle Korfball Club is the oldest club in the area - it was formed in 1996.
Keele University KC was formed in 2001 and Crewe and Nantwich KC was formed in 2008.
The other clubs that have since disbanded were Crewsager (formed by Manchester Metropolitan University's Crewe and Alsager Students, 2002-2004); and Stoke Spitfires (2004-2006). It is hoped that more clubs will be formed in the future or old ones reformed.
The Staffordshire and Cheshire Korfball League (SaCKL) was formed in 2006 and has been won by Keele University and Castle 2. However in 2005 a hybrid potteries league as part of the CEKL was run and won by Stoke Spitfires.
